Komati residents have expressed excitement following the rollout of a new fibre network infrastructure by Vodacom in the area.
Prior to this development, many residents relied on alternative service providers such as Wow for internet connectivity. The introduction of Vodacom’s fibre network is expected to significantly improve access and provide more options for users.
In an interview with Komati News Flash, one resident, who chose to remain anonymous, said they had noticed Vodacom teams actively working and digging trenches in the area.
“We are very excited about this development,” the resident said. “It means we will now have more options to choose from, and Vodacom’s network is known to be stable in this area.”
The resident further explained that the newly installed fibre infrastructure will serve as a primary network, enabling other internet service providers such as Net99 and Vuma, to deliver services more efficiently.
“In simple terms, this fibre acts as the main source that other networks can connect to,” the resident added.
Another resident, Sizwe Maidi, also welcomed the development and expressed gratitude to the network providers for investing in the community.
“As a community, we are very happy to see this kind of improvement,” he said. “We hope this is just the beginning of more developments in our area. Having multiple options will make a big difference for residents.”
A Vodacom staff member confirmed that the current installation is focused on laying the main fibre infrastructure, which will allow other network providers to connect and expand service offerings in Komati.
“This is not the fibre that will be directly installed into residents’ homes yet, but rather the main source that supports various service providers,” the staff member explained.
He added that Vodacom has partnered with several third-party infrastructure companies, including Vumatel, Link Africa, Think Speed, and Octotel, to enhance connectivity and coverage.
According to the staff member, the installation process has been progressing smoothly without major challenges, thanks to strong teamwork and coordination on site.
He noted that the project had experienced delays due to the need for municipal approval, which was required before work could begin.
With the groundwork now underway, residents remain hopeful that the fibre rollout will usher in faster, more reliable internet services and contribute to broader development in Komati.
Residents are now looking forward to the benefits this development will bring as the rollout continues.
