Komati News Flash
Talent has never been the problem in Mpumalanga, opportunity has.
Across dusty fields and under-resourced training grounds, young rugby players have long pushed through with limited gear, sharing balls and making do with the bare minimum. But this month, that story has changed.
The Hollywood Foundation has stepped in to back local talent, equipping over seven amateur rugby clubs with much-needed training gear, giving players and coaches the tools they’ve been missing.

“This Is Where Future Stars Begin”
Hollywood Foundation, Public Relations Officer Vuyi Ngobese says,
“Grassroots rugby development is the foundation of future stars. With access to quality equipment, players can develop their skills, while coaches can implement more effective training programmes.”
Between 13 and 18 April 2026, clubs across both the Highveld and Lowveld received support, including:
- Kriel RC
- Mhluzi RC
- Middelburg RC
- Malelane RC
- Rooikat RC
- Barberton RC
- Ngodwana RC
The handovers included playing kits, tackle bags, first aid kits and water bottles. Simple items, but game-changing for clubs that have gone without.
From Potential to Possibility
Mpumalanga is rich with rugby talent. What’s often been missing is the support to unlock it.
Now, with the right equipment in hand and renewed belief on the field, local players have a real shot, not just to improve their game, but to dream bigger.
Because sometimes, all it takes is the right support to turn raw talent into something unstoppable.
