The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast a week of changing weather conditions, with isolated to scattered rain and thundershowers expected across parts of the country as learners return to school.
According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), a surface high-pressure system will dominate the eastern parts of South Africa this week, while a cold front is expected to make landfall along the southern coastline between Tuesday and Wednesday. Later in the week, a surface trough is forecast to develop along the west coast.
These weather systems are expected to bring partly cloudy and cool conditions, accompanied by isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers over the western, central and eastern parts of the country.
Monday’s forecast includes partly cloudy and cool weather with isolated showers in some areas. Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday, although temperatures are likely to improve across the central and eastern regions.
While no severe weather warnings have been issued, SAWS says it will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates should any weather-related risks arise.

As schools reopen, parents are encouraged to ensure learners are dressed warmly and prepared for wet weather where necessary. Motorists are also advised to drive cautiously, reduce speed on wet roads and allow extra travelling time during the morning and afternoon school commute.
Residents in Komati, Middelburg and surrounding areas are encouraged to keep an eye on local weather conditions as forecasts may change throughout the week.
