Residents could soon see improved traffic law enforcement and better maintenance of public spaces after the municipality handed over seven new traffic vehicles and grass-cutting equipment aimed at improving road safety and keeping communities clean and well maintained.
The vehicles were handed over to the municipality’s traffic department, while the grass-cutting equipment was allocated to the Physical and Environmental Development team. The handover took place on Friday, 29 May 2026, with councillors, municipal management, and senior officials in attendance.
According to the municipality, the new traffic vehicles will help officers respond more quickly to accidents and traffic-related incidents while increasing their visibility on local roads. The vehicles are expected to support efforts to improve road safety and enforce traffic regulations across communities.
The municipality also handed over grass-cutting equipment to teams responsible for maintaining public spaces. Overgrown grass has long been a concern in many areas, with residents often raising issues related to cleanliness, visibility, and safety. The new equipment is expected to assist teams in keeping public spaces clean and well maintained.
The investment forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and address community needs.
Residents will be watching closely to see how the additional resources translate into visible improvements on the ground.
